I daily receive these great, brief, important health tips. You can get them to your inbox as well (www.healthcoachtraining.com/htotd) or just check back here as I share them.

Their focus is around my philosophy: Think well, eat well, live well
*When making lifestyle changes, avoid the all or nothing approach. Instead, select small baby steps daily to move you towards your goals.*

“The key to attaining better health is to develop a strategy to incorporate healthy decisions into daily life.”

Citrus juice contains flavonoids, a phytonutrient that lowers the body’s production of cholesterol, inhibits blood clot formation and boosts the bang of vitamin C. We stay away from juices and use the whole fruit. Slice up some grapefruit, oranges, lemons, limes and lay them flat in the freezer layered in between waxed paper. Once frozen chuck them in a zip bag to be added to water for a healthy, nutritious hot summer bevvie.

According to Japanese Scientific Research, full ripe banana with dark patches on yellow skin produces a substance called TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) which has the ability to combat abnormal cells. The more darker patches it has the higher will be its immunity enhancement quality; Hence, the riper the banana the better the anti-cancer quality.
Yellow skin banana with dark spots on it is 8x more effective in enhancing the property of white blood cells than green skin version. Eating 1-2 banana/s a day increases immunity.

Research at the University of Kentucky found that only about 5% of memory impairments are due to brain
disorders such as Alzheimer's. Stress, depression poor health, improper nutrition and a lack of exercise
are more common and preventable causes of memory impairments.

"Your mental and physical health is inseparable. You cannot work to strengthen one without having
a positive effect on the other." Napoleon Hill PLAY HARD, REST HARD. Play hard, rest hard. Stress is a form of energy expenditure - mental, emotional, or physical -
which must be offset by a balanced commitment to energy recovery.

A health tip from Ellen Whitehurst: This is an ages-old and powerfully effective ‘secret’ Taoist remedy for belching and bloat. Take a scrub a tangerine, then peel it and boil the pieces of the peel in 2 cups of water for five minutes. Strain and let cool and then drink down this ‘tangerine tea.’ It will prevent any episodes of belching and get rid of the bloat. The Taoist scriptures also maintain that you can also eat the tangerine peel as a digestive panacea too. Now, orange you glad you stopped by?
. *Regular physical activity is essential to maintain muscle mass and flexibility, bone density, lung capacity and joint mobility. “Here’s a tip,on how to bring absolute joy into your life faster than it may have otherwise arrived: every day, in some small way, even secretly if you like, look for a chance to help someone else”

Salad Dressing

Ah salad dressing – the quickest way to make your healthy vegetable platter into a monstrosity with more calories than fried chicken with biscuits. If you have to have a dressing on your salad, go for the balsamic vinaigrette, and get the dressing on the side. Here’s a good example, if you eat the caesar salad with the normal amount of dressing they provide (about 3 servings) or heaven forbid, you should get extra, you have just added approximately 600-800 calories to your dinner salad! That is more than a Big Mac at McDonald’s.

If you are interested in creating a healthier lifestyle,it is important to be aware of your current habits so that you can evaluate which support your health and which don’t support health

Eat two apples every day. Not just to keep the doctor away, but because apples are a good source of pectin, a soluble fiber that contributes to a feeling of fullness and digests slowly. REMEMBER though; fruits with long growing seasons have a longer exposure to chemicals. Go organic if your going to eat them everyday.

*Research shows that people who think good things will happen to them are usually right. The next time your thoughts are negative, ask yourself what is a more positive way to think.*

On ‘More Herbs, Less Salt Day’ I want to wax poetic about one particular herb that is considered a ‘super food’ for very good reasons. Cilantro, an herb traditionally used in Mediterranean, Mexican and Spanish cuisines, has many known health benefits. Cilantro (or coriander) is believed to protect against the salmonella bacteria while also acting as an all-natural chelation agent. It’s great for a healthy heart, is known to aid digestion, and it acts as an anti-inflammatory that can alleviate arthritic symptoms. It can also help lower blood sugar, bad cholesterol and blood pressure. Rich in antioxidants and dietary fiber, it’s an excellent source of potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium. So the next time you reach for the saltshaker, shred some of this spicy herb instead and pepper your whole life with happiness and health. Now that wasn’t too hard to swallow, was it?

Sugar consumption, including high fructose corn syrup, can weaken the immune system by up to 50% (depending on the size of the dose) for up to 4 hours. Consider limiting sugar consumption at the beginning of any illness to minimize damage to the immune system when under attack.

*”Hydrogenated fats (trans fats) are unhealthy because they have been chemically restructured to prevent breakdown and spoilage. While this process is good for the food industry and the shelf life of foods, the body can’t break trans fats down either. The result is excess unnatural fats floating in the bloodstream clogging arteries and damaging blood vessel linings. Eliminate trans fats for a healthy cardiovascular system.”*

So how does this “organic” thing work: “Plants develop antioxidants and phytonutrients to protect themselves from environmental threats. With current factory farming methods, plants are drenched in pesticides and chemicals and do not develop many of these vital nutrients. Organic plants are not exposed to chemicals, and therefore have significantly higher nutrient levels. Buy organic whenever possible to maximize nutrients.”

Exactly why 5 day RESET is so powerful!
“Addictive foods cause cravings, and sometimes gas, bloating and discomfort. Observe which foods you might be addicted to, and substitute other foods or distract yourself to avoid them. It usually takes 3-5 days to completely flush addictive foods from the body to relieve cravings, making weight control significantly easier.”

I heard this very same thing yesterday. When info comes at me twice I pay attention, you should as well. I am recently on a floss kick. Although I have flossed often (dentist: how often do you floss? Me: depends on how many red lights I get.) it is now a must do for my health coaching clients. Along with fluoride free toothpaste, flossing is such a simple thing to do for huge health benefits.

Bacteria from gum disease can enter your bloodstream, which causes your white blood cells to release clotting factors that contribute to both heart attacks and strokes

DON’T LEAVE HOME WITH OUT ‘EM: Raw almonds and raw peanuts contain essential fats and are a good source of protein. A handful of almonds has more protein than an egg! Stuff them in your vehicle, purse, desk at work! nuts

Health n income, they go hand in hand. Getting sick does make you poorer. Low income doesn’t lead to poor health as much as poor health leads to low income.
