In attending and event with my “Full of love and energy” kid as her group (Tough Girls) was doing a presentation of boxing, I discovered this very yummy healthier version of icing. (Maria, is anxiously awaiting this)
After a wonderful evening of yoga, then inspiring stories of health transformers and of course watching these young girls show us how to have fun while boxing, we were treated to a table of healthier treats.
As I walked up to the table I was surprised with what I thought was nutella. “Ok, no worries. It’s all about moderation not deprivation”, I thought. MUCH to my surprise it was a healthy icing that can easily be a substitute for nutella. I got very excited about this.
You will often find this in our pantry. My one child “is on the journey” and this is the one product she does enjoy and can still get away with consuming it. The teen years are approaching and with her body changing and she’s already noticing she can’t eat what she could when she was 8. We will be saying “see ya” to nutella very soon and replacing it with this:
CHOCOLATE ICING
1 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup Earth Butter
1 cup maple syrup (or combination maple syrup and agave)
1 tsp vanilla
Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and whip until smooth and creamy.
This can be spread on the Chocolate Gluten Free Chickpea Cake.
