Are familiar with GMO yet? Its important! What you don’t know WILL hurt you.
Hopefully by now, you have made some slight changes in your diet, source of nutrition through food. I do like to think that there are two sources of nutrition; food and supplements.
Supplements is the easiest of the two to know, learn and choose. There is really only one source. Food however is much more complicated. Organic? Local? Processed? And lately……..GMO.
INN (http://www.integrativenutrition.com/) has the simplest definition of GMO :
Your plate may contain foods that are not found in nature. Genetically engineered foods (also known as genetically modified organisms or GMOs) are foods that are bioengineered in a laboratory. They can be made from inserting genes from one species into another (think fish genes added to tomato genes) to bring out desired traits or ward off pests.
The problem is that genetically engineered foods are unlabeled, so you don’t know you’re eating them. And most Americans are eating them every day.
Worst of all, they have also been linked to toxic and allergic reactions in people, and to sickness, sterility, and fatalities in livestock. Though the FDA deems these foods “Generally Recognized as Safe,” GMOs have never been tested, so no one knows for sure what effect they’re having on our bodies.
Know about them. Learn a little more about them and………..be well.
